What is Alcohol dependency?

Exactly what is Alcohol dependency?  Alcohol dependency is a condition that happens when a person becomes psychologically and/or physically dependent on alcohol. If they try to stop drinking, patients with this condition experience strong cravings for alcohol and may experience severe symptoms. Many people who abuse alcohol aren't yet dependent on it. Continuous alcohol abuse usually leads to dependency.  Alcohol dependency isn't the same as alcohol abuse. Alcohol dependency happens when a person drinks alcohol frequently, usually in considerable amounts. Gradually, the body ends up accustomed to having alcohol.
